Is my skin dry or is it dehydrated?

Is my skin dry or is it dehydrated?

As the colder autumn weather approaches, you may notice that your skin is a bit more thirsty than usual. But in order to tailor the right products for your autumn routine, you need to determine if your skin is dry or dehydrated. So....what exactly is the difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin, you ask?

As our wonderful brand Pestle and Mortar explain in this post:

Dry skin is a skin type that is lacking in oil.

Dehydrated skin is a skin condition which is the result of external factors and leads to skin that is lacking in water.

So what can you do about it?

Dry skin can be treated by choosing gentle cleansers (we suggest HoliFrog Tashmoo Waterlily Nourishing Milky Wash) and using the right moisturizing ingredients (for example Ursa Major's Golden Hour Recovery Cream)

Dehydrated skin, on the other hand, can benefit from a hydration-infusing serum (try Pestle and Mortar's Hyaluronic Serum) and from a hydrating acid (like Pestle and Mortar's Lactic Acid Toner) that will both soothe and provide gentle exfoliation so your moisturizing products can penetrate as deeply as possible.

As always, do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions! we love to hear from you.
