Autumn is here! Skincare tips for cold weather

As autumn weather approaches, many people notice that their skin gets a bit drier and flakier, and begins to looks a little dull. Just like we suggested that you change up your skincare routine at the beginner of summer, now is the time to start to think about what products to swap in and out in order to protect and nourish your skin through the autumn and in time for the colder winter days.

Our top tips for autumn skincare:

1. Switch to a thicker moisturizer

Now is the time to switch from a lighter lotion to a heavier cream, especially before bed. Have you tried Ursa Major's Golden Hour Recovery Cream yet? If not, what are you waiting for!

2. Add in an eye cream

Just as you should switch to a thicker moisturizer, autumn is a good time to care for the skin around your eyes by adding in an eye cream to your daily routine. Try Pestle and Mortar's Recover Eye Cream, for example.

3. Consider switching to a milder retinol

If you tend to have sensitive skin, autumn could be a time to dial down the retinol treatments, due to the drier and colder nature of the environment. Warmer temperatures usually mean slightly oilier skin, which can buffer the potentially irritating effect of retinol products. Pestle and Mortar's Superstar Retinoid Night Oil is a great option if you are looking for something fast acting but non irritating.

4. Add Vitamin C to your routine

In the colder months, Vitamin C products work double duty: they help to combat SPF rays that aren’t fully blocked by your sunscreen, while also evening out hyperpigmentation you may have gotten in the summer sun. If you haven't tried Vitamin C before, InstaNatural's Vitamin C Serum is a great product to begin with.

5. Use a more moisturizing cleanser

If you are noticing a drier texture than usual after your daily cleanse, we suggest switching up your cleanser to a product that is as moisturizing as possible. Our favorite is HoliFrog's Kissimee Vitamin F Therapy Balmy Wash
