
Finding a skincare routine that is right for you depends on a few different things: whether you are new to skincare or an advanced user, your skin type, and the amount of time and interest you have to devote to product application in your morning and evening routines. We know that it can be confusing to sort through what is necessary, versus what is just marketing jargon.
The good news is that we are here to help! Not only because every product one our site has been handpicked for high quality and effective ingredients, but also because you’ll find some pointers here about finding the right combination for you. SIMPLE SKINCARE ROUTINE
You’re either new to the skincare game, or enjoy a minimalistic routine.
- Morning: cleanser, moisturizer, SPF (if your moisturizer contains SPF you can skip this step)
- Evening: cleanser, treatment serum (for example vitamin C for uneven skintone, hyaluronic acid for dry skin, retinol for maturing skin, niacinamide for sensitive skin), moisturizer
- Once or twice a week, add a chemical exfoliant (for example, AHAs or BHAs) to your evening routine instead of the serum
READY TO ADD A FEW MORE PRODUCTS TO YOUR LINEUP?
You’ve mastered the simple routine and are looking to jazz it up a bit.
- Morning: cleanser, vitamin C or another antioxidant serum, moisturizer, SPF (if your moisturizer contains SPF you can skip this step)
- Evening: cleanser, toner or exfoliant, treatment serum, moisturizer
- Remember to check whether your exfoliant and treatment serum work well together! For example, the nights you use your retinol serum you may want to skip the exfoliant.
- Once or twice a week, add a sheet mask to revive and hydrate the skin
PRODUCT-JUNKIE ROUTINE
You know which actives you can and cannot mix, and are a pro at adapting your skincare based on the season.
- Morning: cleanser, toner, serum, eye cream, moisturizer, SPF (if your moisturizer contains SPF you can skip this step)
- Evening: oil cleanse, cleanse, toner/exfoliant, treatment serum, eye cream, moisturizer, facial oil
- Once or twice a week, add a sheet mask to revive and hydrate the skin
A NOTE ABOUT TRYING NEW PRODUCTS
Believe us, we can relate to the excitement of getting new products and the anticipation of trying something new! However, we are here with a gentle reminder to try one new product at a time, and to give yourself 1-2 months of regular use before assessing its performance. It can take a little while to see the results of new actives. As always, if your skin becomes irritated from a new products, stop it immediately and give your skin a chance to rest.
